Clear shipping expectations, fee breakdowns, delivery timelines, and how we handle consolidation and cross-border delivery.

All figures are examples unless shown at checkout.

1. Overview

DeliKing supports cross-border delivery by purchasing from South African retailers, consolidating items where applicable, and shipping to Zimbabwe. Shipping costs are influenced by size, weight, packaging needs, route, and customs processing.

We’ll always show the most accurate shipping estimate we can at checkout. If the final package differs materially (e.g. retailer sends a bigger box), we’ll explain the change before dispatch where possible.

2. How Shipping is Priced

Packaging & Consolidation

If you buy multiple items, we may consolidate into fewer parcels. This can reduce shipping cost and improve delivery reliability.

  • Optional protective packaging (fragile items)
  • Re-boxing to reduce volumetric space (where safe)
  • Item count and handling time

Chargeable Weight

Carriers commonly bill by the greater of actual weight or volumetric weight. Your checkout estimate reflects this logic.

Chargeable Weight = max(Actual kg, Volumetric kg)

Service & Handling Fees

These cover purchasing, local receiving, consolidation, packaging, documentation, and coordination with carriers.

  • Receiving + inspection
  • Warehouse handling
  • Documentation / manifests

Route & Delivery Method

Final cost depends on destination, last-mile availability, and whether delivery is to door or pickup point.

  • Door-to-door vs pickup
  • Remote area surcharges (if applicable)
  • Carrier availability

3. Box Sizes & Volumetric Weight

Boxes are chosen to protect your items. When possible, we optimise packaging to reduce wasted space (without compromising safety).

Volumetric Weight (example)

Volumetric kg = (L × W × H in cm) / 5000 (carrier factor varies)

Example: 40 × 30 × 20 cm = 24,000 / 5000 = 4.8 kg

Small

Accessories, cosmetics, small electronics.

Typical: up to ~2kg actual (varies).

Medium

Shoes, small appliances, multi-item packs.

Typical: ~2–8kg chargeable (varies).

Large

Bulk items, big boxes, fragile packing needs.

Typical: 8kg+ chargeable (varies).

    Retailer Purchase

We purchase from the retailer after payment confirmation (and stock validation where available).

    Linehaul / Cross-Border Transit

Carrier transit between South Africa and Zimbabwe (time varies by route and clearance).

  4. 4

6. Restricted & Prohibited Items

Some items cannot be shipped due to carrier rules, safety regulations, or customs restrictions.

Common restricted categories:

  • Aerosols and pressurised canisters
  • Flammables and hazardous chemicals
  • Some batteries (carrier-dependent)
  • Perishables without cold-chain support
  • High-risk controlled items (subject to law)

If you’re unsure, contact support before purchasing.

7. Customs, Duties & Taxes

Customs processes vary by item type and declared value. Where duties/taxes are payable, we’ll explain who charges them and the options available.

Documentation

We prepare shipping documentation (e.g. manifests/invoices) based on retailer and shipment details.

Interventions

If customs requests additional info, we’ll contact you quickly to avoid delays.

8. Damage, Loss & Claims

If your parcel arrives damaged or incomplete, contact us within 7 days with photos and your order ID.

Take photos of the outer box, inner packaging, and the item damage. Keep the packaging until the claim is resolved.

Investigation

We check receiving photos, packaging notes, and carrier handover details.

Resolution

Where applicable, we propose replacement, partial refund, or retailer claim support.

Prevention

We improve packing SOPs based on recurring damage patterns.
